I Was Once a River – meditations for two microtonal requintos recorded in natural environments

I Was Once a River is a solo album by Noah Dean Jordan, composed and recorded using two handmade microtonal requintos—one tuned to a 7-limit system, the other to a 13-limit system. Each piece was performed outdoors, in dialogue with specific environments: by riversides, lakeshores, and ocean edges. These recordings are meditative and place-based, not bound by narrative direction or formal resolution—sonic photographs of stillness and flow. The tuning systems create layered harmonic textures that resonate with the natural world, offering intimate moments of listening rather than compositions in the traditional sense.
