Trade and Aura – microtonal piano and ceramic resonance in just intonation
Trade and Aura is a collaborative album by Noah Dean Jordan and Roxanne Nesbitt, centered around a microtonal piano tuned in just intonation and augmented with handcrafted ceramic objects. These ceramics—designed and placed inside the piano by Nesbitt—transform its resonance, creating unexpected textures and harmonic shadows that shift with each gesture. The album explores the interplay between tactile form and tonal structure, with compositions that unfold slowly, like elemental rituals. Roxanne also performs on tracks 3 and 4, contributing both sonic material and a sculptural sensibility that blurs the line between object and instrument, tone and texture.
